John Scott was born in about 1760 in Scotland. He married Elizabeth Hood 17 December 1790. They had four known children. They moved to Wales sometime between 1800 and 1814. Many of their grandchildren immigrated to the United States and settled in Wisconsin and South Dakota.

Edmund Ingalls (died 1648) and his brother, Francis (1601-1672), sons of Robert Ingalls (died 1617), immigrated from England and settled in Lynn, Massachusetts in 1629. Descendants lived in Massachusetts and elsewhere.

Robert Ingolls was a yeoman in Lincolnshire, England in the late 16th century and early 17th century. His son Edmund was born in Lincolnshire around 1585. He married Anne Telbe and immigrated to Lynn, Massachusetts circa. 1638. Another son of Robert Ingolls, Francis, also came to Lynn, Massachusetts. His wife was Bridget Vaughan (d. 1625).
