Description
"Jefferson County is located in northwestern Washington State on the Olympic Peninsula. Port Townsend, the only incorporated city in Jefferson County, is the county seat. Jefferson County was established in 1852 at which time it covered all of the Olympic Peninsula. In 1854, Clallam County was carved out of the northwestern part of Jefferson County." web site.

Description
NOTE: "Colored" marriages records prior to May 1882 are found in the marriage series designated as "white". Most marriage records after the Civil War do not indicate race.
NOTE: The index series on films 1683910-1683913 were produced about 1938 by the WPA. The Bessemer courthouse was closed from 30 July to 1 October 1932. For "colored" marriages from about 1867-1882 use the "white" index.
