Descendants of John S. Jelly (1814-1899), son of Andrew Jelly and Elizabeth Mason, who was born in Pennsylvania, and died in Gelena, Jo Daviess Co., Illinois. He married Mariah Jane Hazell (1819-1883) in 1835. She was born in Kentucky. They had ten children, who were all born in Illinois. The earliest known ancestor, William or Andrew? Jelly, was born in Ireland. Descendants live in Nebraska, South Dakota, Illinois, Montana, Wyoming and elsewhere....

Description
Benjamin Jelly Worthington was born April 8, 1763 in Dover. His parents were Benjamin Worthington and Ann Jelly. He commanded the the customs cutter "Tartar". He married Elizabeth Collins in 1787. They lived in the village of Charlton and had ten children. Benjamin died in 1822. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived in Kent, Devon, Suffolk, New Zealand, Canada and elsewhere.

"He enlisted at Mayene, France, on March 19, 1777, embarked at Brest for America April 7, 1780, and arrived at New Port, Rhode Island, in July 1780.
