Description
John Jessup was born in England, and married Joanna Kerrich (Kerrick). They immigrated to Wethersfield, Connecticut during or before 1637, "...where he was dead by February 1637 or 1638." Among his children were two sons, John and Edward. His widow married John Whitmore.

William Jessop (d. 1558) of Rotherham married Emotte, daughter of John Charlesworth of Treeton. They had four children. The family lived in Broom Hall in Sheffield for generations. Descendants lived mainly in England, North Carolina, Indiana and Iowa.

Josiah Jessup (b. ca. 1779), son of William Jessup and Mary Pratt, and his wife, Edith, had six children. Their daughter, Elizabeth, married Thomas A. Johnson (1804-1878), son of Thomas Johnson and Jane Brooks. They had twelve children. Few dates or places given in record. William Jessup died in Wayne County, Indiana.
