The Wilson line comes from Virginia about 1800 to Tennessee. The Woodburn line comes from North Ireland (Ulster), as the Wilson line did originally, with the immigrant ancestor, John Woodburn, b. 1805 in County Down, who came to Philadelphia 1825-32. Descendants lived in Illinois, Colorado, Florida and elsewhere.

John Ballard was born ca. 1639 in Bitton, England, and immigrated to Nansemond County, Virginia, in 1659 as an indentured servant. His sons John, Ralph, and Joseph migrated to North Carolina. Includes other Ballard families of unknown relationship who lived in North Carolina.

William Temple Cole (1768-1810) married Hannah Allison in 1789, and moved from Virginia to land in what became Howard (later Cooper) County, Missouri. Descendants and relatives lived in Missouri, Illinois, Kansas, Oklahoma, California and elsewhere.
