Nicholas Kieffer (1827-1893) was born in Wintringen, Luxembourg to John Mathias and Marguerite Steinmetz Kieffer. In 1866 he and his two sisters immigrated to America and settled in Washington County, Kansas. Nicholas brought with him his wife, Magdelena Mergen and their three children. They were eventually the parents of seven children. Descendants live in Kansas, Missouri and other parts of the United States.

Michael Kieffer, of French Huguenot lineage, was born in 1724 near Kettenheim, Germany and married Margaret Miller in 1750. He and his family immigrated in 1773 to Bedford County, Pennsylvania. In the 1780s, he moved to Somerset County, Pennsylvania, where he died in 1805.

Descendants of Friedrich Kieffer (immigrated in 1737); Abraham and Caspar Kieffer (immigrated in 1748); and Michael Kieffer (immigrated in 1773). The relationships between Friedrich and Michael Kieffer to Abraham and Caspar is not known. Abraham and Caspar were brothers, originally from St. Wendel, near Zweibrucken, Germany. These immigrants settled in Pennsylvania and Maryland.

George and Jacob Keiffer, of French Huguenot lineage, were born in Alsace and immigrated to Pennsylvania. George married Mary Maria Conke (Conck) of Philadelphia in 1767, and was killed as a member of the royal troops. The family immigrated to Thorold, Ontario.

Joseph Hutton, with his brothers, John and Nehemiah, emigrated from County Carlow, Ireland, to America in 1710, landing at New Castle, Delaware. Joseph settled in New Garden Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, where he purchased land. He married Mary Miller, daughter of John and Mary Miller, in 1714. They had eight sons and a daughter. He died in 1735. Descendants lived in Pennsylvania, Kansas, and elsewhere.

He married Bridget Dosman (1864-1921), daughter of Jacob Dosman and Regina Phillips, in 1885. They had five children. He died in 1941.
