Michael or Micah Bartlett was born 29 March 1789 in Marlboro, Windham, Vermont. His parents were probably Joseph Bartlett and Silence Rice. He married Olive Brown in 1811. He married Zerviah Edwards Wells (1798-1832) in 1819 in Gallatin County, Illinois. They had four children. He married Bethena Babbitt (1811-1895) in 1833 in Fulton County, Illinois. Benjamin MacKimzey (ca. 1725-1807) was born in Scotland and died in Buncombe Co., N. C. He married Agnes Lane and they had at least eight children. James McKimzey married Mary Croley and they had nine children. These two men dropped the Scotish prefix from their names. Their families and descendants lived close together in Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee and elsewhere.
