Eljeroy C. Curtis was born 25 October 1822 in New York. He married Catherine Rosanna Herbert, daughter of John Herbert and Elizabeth Broombaugh, 5 September 1845 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. They had eight children. He died 9 October 1903 in Edgar Springs, Missouri. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Missouri, Illinois, Kansas and Arizona.
