George Steinert (1830-1911) was born in Eckheim, Russia. In 1848, he married Margaret Sophia Erlich. They were the parents of seven children. One of his children, George Jacob Steinert (1855-1824), was also born in Russia. In 1878 the family immigrated to America and settled in Kansas. George Jacob married Maria Catharina Keller and they were the parents of six children. Descendants live in Kansas.
