Johannes Kurtz ( 1856-1926), son of Johannes Kurtz (1808-1900) and Maria Catharina Eichler (1830-1899), was born in Dönnhof, Russia. He married Catharina Elisabeth Lind (b. 1854), daughter of Johann Michael Lind (1829-1893) and Maria Elisabeth Jacobÿ (1830-1906), in 1875.

Henry Funk was born in 1753 in Strasburg, Shenandoah County, Virginia. His parents were Henry Funk and Franey Veronica (1696-1758). He married Elizabeth Mueller 18 July 1774. They had eleven children. Henry fought in the American Revolution. He died in 1815 in Harrison County, Indiana. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Virginia, Pennsylvania and Indiana. .
