Some time between 1640 and 1647 James moved his family from Kent Island, Md. to "Coan" or present day Northumberland Co., Virginia. He did marry (3) Mourning Thomas, widow of Joseph Thomas, on 13 Nov 1761 in Edgecombe County, North Carolina. William's will was probated on 11 May 1762 in Edgecombe County. William had ten known children. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in North Carolina.

James E. Forsyth (ca.1759-1831) moved to Granville County, North Carolina (probably from Virginia) during or before 1778. He served in the Revolutionary War, and was the only Forsyth to remain in Granville County and die there. John Bomar (1757-ca. 1844), a Revolutionary War soldier, was born in King and Queen County, Virginia. He probably married at least twice and may have been the father of ten children, born ca. 1784-ca. 1810. He and his family migrated to Hardin County, Kentucky, ca. 1806. Some of the Bomar/Bowmar/Bomer etc. families listed in this work are his descendants.

William McGaughey/y (d. ca. 1750) was the first in this family to come to America. He was born in Northern Ireland and sailed from Glasgow, Scotland to America ca. 1738. He married Margaret in Scotland. In 1745 the tract of land was assigned to William McGaughney in Hamilton Ban Township, York Co., Pennsylvania. Descendants live in Pennsylvania, Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Mississippi, Illinois, Colorado and elsewhere.

Alexander Beebe was born 29 October 1759 in New London, Connecticut. He was a descendant of John Beby (or Beebe) who lived in Brackley, Northamptonshire, England during the early part of the 15th century. Alexander married Sarah Bowker 31 July 1780 in Rutland, Vermont. They lined in New York and were the parents of twelve children. Descendants lived in New York, Illinois, Michigan, Nebraska and elsewhere.
