Chiefly parental ancestors, relatives, and family of the author's mother, Madge Edna Landers Mead (1912-1995). She was born in Wheeler County, Texas, the daughter of Thomas Adrian Landers (1886-1968) and Emma Nita Boase (1889-1962). She married Clyde Cecil Mead 4 Jul 1937. They were the parents of two children.
Ancestry is traced back to Christopher Landis (ca. 1710-1771) who died in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.

Philip Egan was born ca. 1802 in Ireland. He was the son of Timothy Egan and Margaret (surname unknown). Philip married Honora Walsh (daughter of Robert Walsh) ca. 1833 in Ireland. They immigrated to Canada ca. 1835 and settled in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Iseland, Canada. By the year 1880, they were living in Quincy, Nova Scotia, Canada. Philip and Honora were the parents of eight children. Descendants lived primarily in Canada.

James Monroe Boase (1855-1934), a son of Samuel A. and Mary Boase, was born in Texas. He married Elizabeth W. Kimmel (1857-1891), a daughter of Jesse Kimmel and a twice-widowed mother of one child, ca. 1883. They had four more children. James married Sarah Ollie Brock (1872 or 1876-1967), a daughter of James Brock, in 1891 or 1892. They had ten children. Descendants live in Texas, Oklahoma, and Arizona.

Henry O'Donald (1720-1798) and his wife and family immigrated from Ireland to Cannonsburg, Pennsylvania. The eldest son, Charles (1750- 1820), married Jane Gamble in 1776, and used the surname of Dannell and finally Daniel (as did all of his brothers and sisters except one brother, who used Donnell). Descendants lived in Pennsylvania, the midwest, Nevada, Idaho, Washington, California and elsewhere.

A Thomas Goodfellow lived in Connecticut in 1639. A Thomas Goodfellow (d.1685) married Mary Grant. (They may have been the same person). Mary Grant (b. 1663) was the daughter of Peter and Mary Grant. Their children may have been Mary, Thomas, Samuel and Timothy. Descendants lived in N.Y., Ky., Mo., Minn., Okla., Wash., Calif. and elsewhere.

Norman, Andrew, and Selkrig Bruce emigrated from Edinburgh, Scotland to Maryland in the second half of the eighteenth century. They were all children of Charles Bruce and Helen Cleland. Selkrig married Robert Dods. Descendants of all three lived in Maryland, New York, Ohio, Missouri, California, Iowa, Pennsylvania and elsewhere.
