She was born in Wheeler County, Texas, the daughter of Thomas Adrian Landers (1886-1968) and Emma Nita Boase (1889-1962). She married Clyde Cecil Mead 4 Jul 1937. They were the parents of two children. Ancestry is traced back to Christopher Landis (ca. 1710-1771) who died in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.

Kimmel (1857-1891), a daughter of Jesse Kimmel and a twice-widowed mother of one child, ca. 1883. They had four more children. James married Sarah Ollie Brock (1872 or 1876-1967), a daughter of James Brock, in 1891 or 1892. They had ten children. Descendants live in Texas, Oklahoma, and Arizona.

Thomas Launders, born 1613, is believed to be the progenitor of Landers or Landrus family in America.

Norman, Andrew, and Selkrig Bruce emigrated from Edinburgh, Scotland to Maryland in the second half of the eighteenth century. They were all children of Charles Bruce and Helen Cleland. Selkrig married Robert Dods. Descendants of all three lived in Maryland, New York, Ohio, Missouri, California, Iowa, Pennsylvania and elsewhere.
