John Rush was born before 23 May 1620 at Boreham, Essex, England and died in May 1699 at Byberry, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He married Susannah Lucas in 1648 at Banbury, Hornton, Oxfordshire, England. They joined the Society of Friends in 1660. Elias Whitcomb, son of William Whitcomb and Sarah Shall (or Shawl), was born 25 January 1825 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. He married Sarah E. McDonald (1848-1899) in 1866 in Jay County, Indiana. Their daughter, Matilda J. Whitcomb (1875-1952) married Howard Butler Hazzard (1863-1938), son of J. E. Hazzard (1827-1912) and Susan Meyers, in 1892 in Sheridan, Wisconsin.
