A narrative of the Revolutionary War service of Major Abraham Leggett. He was captured by the British and spent some time in a prison in New York. Abraham Leggett, the son of John and Sarah Alsop Leggett, was born at West Farms, Westchester County, New York, in 1755. He married 1) Rebecca Morgan. They had two children. He married 2) Catharine Wiley in 1762. They had nine children. He died in New York in 1842.

Thomas Leggett and a brother immigrated from Scotland to Baltimore, Maryland in the late 1700s. Thomas moved to Pennsylvania, married Pamelia Dempster, settled in Washington County, and moved in 1823 to land near Roxford, Ohio. Joshua Leggett Sr. was one of the sons of Thomas and Pamelia, and inherited the land when he married Jane Guthrie. Descendants lived in Ohio, Maryland and elsewhere.
