Family history of Burkhart Lehman (1866-1953) and his wife Lydia Sprunger (1866-1938). He was the son of the immigrant ancestor, Jacob J. Lehman, who came from Switzerland on April 11, 1881. Burkhart and Lydia were married on Sept. 15, 1889 in Berne, Indiana. They had eleven children.

Ignatius Lehman, son of Michael Lehamn and Elizabeth Kormann, was born in 1843 in Walkerton, Ontario. He married Maria Anna Zuber (1847-1946), daughter of Karl Louis Zuber and Elizabetha Weiler, in 1865 in New Germany, Ontario. They had seven children. He died in 1907 in Aberfoyle, Ontario.

The earliest known Lehman progenitor was Ulrich Leeman who was the father of three sons. Members of the Lehman family were Mennonites. In 1821 Hans Lehmann (1763-1846) immigrated with his family to America. They settled in Ohio. Other Lehman/ Lehmann, Leeman/Leemann families also emigrated from Langnau, Switzerland. Descendants live in Ohio, Indiana and other parts of the United States, as well as in Switzerland.
