Lilly was settled ca. 1800 and was also known as Lilly on the Bluestone. In the 1940's, it was a community of about 50 families when the area was surrendered to the Federal government for the Bluestone Dam control project. The buildings and cemetery were either destroyed or relocated.

Description
General William Lilly (1821-1893) was born at Penn Yan, Yates County, New York, the son of Col. William Lilly. He moved to Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, in 1838, with his family. He was active in railroad, mining, and other businesses, and politics in Pennsylvania. He was elected as a congressman at large from Pennsylvania in 1892. He died at his residence at Mauch Chunk, Mauch Chunk, Carbon County, Pennsylvania.

John Lilly, son of John Lilly and Isabelle Doralston, was born in 1604 in Tamworth, Staffordshire, England. He married Mary Maulson (1617-1678) in Point Comfort, Virginia. They had one son, John (1640-1677). John died in 1642. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Virginia, Kentucky, Missouri and Nebraska.

John Lilly was living at Westherfield, Connecticut, by 1640. He and his family probably later returned to Massachusetts. His son, George Lilly settled at Reading, Massachusetts, in 1658. He married Hannah Smith, daughter of Francis Smith of Watertown, Massachusetts, in 1659. They had six children, 1660-1672. Josiah Floyd, Sr. (1759-1828) was born in Virginia and fought in the American Revolution. He and his wife, Mary Tillman (1764-1846), had ten children, 1788-after 1802. The family was living in Montgomery County, North Carolina, by 1795. He died there. Descendants listed lived in North Carolina and elsewhere.
