Francis Purdy (b. ca. 1616-1658), immigrated from England to America. He married Mary Brundage in 1642 in Fairfield, Connecticut. He was the first to carry the name "Purdy" to America. George Bentley (b.ca.1829) immigrated in 1852 from England to Sydney, North South Wales, with his mother Martha, a brother Richard, and sisters Elizabeth and Hannah. He married Mary Ann Moore in 1852, settled at Hill End, and after several moves, returned to Sydney in 1882. Descendants and relatives lived in New South Wales and elsewhere.
