Several members of this family immigrated to Pennsylvania from Wales. Robert Lloyd (ca. 1667-1714) arrived in the 1680's. He and his wife, Lowry Jones, had eight children born from 1699 to 1713. Robert's brother, Thomas Lloyd and sister, Gainor Lloyd, arrived ca. 1696. Thomas Lloyd (b. ca. 1666) married Elizabeth Williams (b. 1672). Some of their descendants later settled in Ontario , Canada where numerous descendants still reside.

Governor Thomas Lloyd (1640-1694) descended from a ancient Welsh family. He was born in Dolobran. He and his elder brother, Charles, joined the Society of Friends and were highly useful and eminent members of it. He married (1) Mary (d. 1680), daughter of Gilbert Jones of Welsh Pool, 1665 in Montgomeryshire. A biography of James Lloyd, II, M.D. born 24 Mar 1728 in Manor of Queens Village, New York. His parents were Henry Lloyd, I and Rebecca Nelson. James married Sarah Comrin (Comryn) (1734-1797) in Boston, Mass. on 6 Feb 1759. He died 14 Mar 1810 in Boston.

Biographical sketches of John Uri Lloyd (1849-1936), son of Nelson M. Lloyd and Sophia Webster. he was born in West Bloomfield, New York, and moved with his parents to Burlington, Kentucky in 1854, moving later to Florence, Kentucky. He became a notable chemist, and a published author about chemical subjects. He married Adaline Meader in 1876, and settled in Cincinnati, Ohio. Descendants lived in Ohio, California and elsewhere.
