Some focus is on (but not limited to) descendants of Benjamin Nye, who built the historic Grange Homestead on Old Country Road, East Sandwich, Massachusetts in 1669. Ancestry and descendants of Johann Andreas Philipp Ludwig (1753-1803) who emigrated from Germany to America in 1777 and settled in Pennsylvania. He married Anna Maria Clingmann (1767-1827) in 1785. Sometime after arriving in America he anglicized his name to Lewis. His descendants lived primarily in Pennsylvania. His ancestry traces primarily back into the Swabian portions of Germany.

Description
John Young, son of Samuel Young, was born 1 February 1850 in Scotland. They emigrated in about 1862 and settled in Tama County, Iowa. He married Agnes McNairn (1853-1933) 22 January 1874. They had eleven children. Includes Behm, Dau-Schmidt, Ludwig and related families.

John Knau(b)er arrived in the United States about 1845 from Germany, his future wife, Ann Jones, came from Wales about 1849. They married in 1856 and later they moved to Iowa where the raised seven children. All of the children lived longer than their parents and it is they and their descendants who are sketched in this volume. Many of Ann Jones' brothers and sisters are also included in the book.

Wendel Bauman landed in Philadelphia in 1709 and settled in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He was the first of the family to come to America. Wilhelm Bauman came in 1710 and settled in Germantown. Other Baumans came in 1727. Some came alone and some brought their families.

William Perez Schrock (ca. 1763-1848) was probably born in Virginia, near Winchester. He married Jane Means and nine of their twelve children grew up in what is now Romney, West Virginia. After her death in 1835, he went to Westerville, Ohio to live with their son, George. Descendants and relatives also lived in Missouri, Nebraska, Wyoming, Oregon, California and elsewhere.
