Frank Edward Smith, son of John Peter Smith (1827-1907) and Anna Christina Hechler (1833-1906), was born in 1877 in Ohio. He married Pauline Rosina Lutz, daughter of John Jacob Lutz (1851-1936) and Katherine Marie Schneider (1849-1936), in 1899 in Jenera, Ohio. They had eleven children. They moved to Oregon in 1908 and settled in Mill City. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Germany, Ohio and Oregon.
