Calvin Loomis Carpenter was born 2 Aug 1808 in Middlesex, Yates County, New York, to Robert Carpenter and Phebe McNair. Robert was the son of Christopher Roberts and Mercy Taylor. Calvin married Eleanor D. Pierce, the daughter of Henry Leighton Pierce and Hailey Turner Manley. Eleanor was born 12 Oct 1813 in Little Compton, Rhode Island. Anthony Arnold is the primary known ancestor. He emigrated from Yorkshire, England, to New Kent, Virginia, in 1657. He was in Maryland by 1670 and settled in Ann Arundel County, Maryland. Anthony married one Johannah. He died in 1689. Descendants and relatives lived in Maryland, Ohio and elsewhere.
