H. Lyle Grant was raised in a small Arizona town. As a young man, he enlisted in the military at the onset of World War II. He flew missions as a ball turret gunner and was shot down over Germany in October 5, 1944. After Sgt. H. L Grant bailed out of his burning B-17 bomber. This history details his experience as a POW and his eventual escape. In the book, he explains how the experience gave him skills he needed to face any trial.
