The earliest known ancestor of the Stow family was Daniel Stow (b.1665) who was the father of Daniel Stow (1693-1767). He was the father of James Stow (1727-1795) who's grandchildren emigrated from their native Dover, England to Canada. Their descendants eventually settled in the United states and presently live in Washington state.

Murdock/Murdoch McKenzie, son of Roderick McKenzie and Ann Fraser, was born in 1801 in Sutherlandshire, Scotland. He married Catherine McKenzie, daughter of Donald McKenzie and Margaret McLeod, in 1833. They had seven children. He died in 1879 in Kincardine, Ontario. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Scotland, Ontario and British Columbia.
