Alexander Mack was born at Schriesheim, Germany. He was a minister of the Church of the Brethren. In 1729 he and his followers immigrated to Germantown, Pennsylvania, where he died in 1735. Traces line of descent to David Edwin Hilsee who was born August 11, 1923.

Solomon Mack, the grandfather of Joseph Smith, was born in Connecticut in 1735. He married Lydia Gates and they were the parents of eight children. Eventually the family lived in Vermont, and New Hampshire. His own remembrances of his life are included in this version of his journal as edited by a descendant. Many of his descendants are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Michael Mack was born in about 1540 in Germany. Descendant, Johannes Mock, was born 12 March 1736 in Altenriet, Germany. He married Anna Judith Veizhans in 1758 in Neckartenzlingen, Germany. They had nine children. He died in 1815 in Mock Mills, Shefford, Ouebec. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Germany, Quebec and Ohio.

Thomas MackGehee was either the son of James MacGregor or was James MacGregor; the latter immigrated in 1653 from Scotland to York Co., Virginia. Thomas MackGehee of St. John's Parish, King William Co., Virginia probably died in 1727.

John Christopher Miller was born at Werdenhausen, Germany, in 1759. He married Hanna Franciska Stratman (1765-1818), daughter of Christian Frederick Stratman in 1788. They had seven children, 1789-1803, all born at Hofgeismar, Germany. The family immigrated to the United States in 1805 and settled in Clay Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. They migrated to Madison Township, Fairfield County, Ohio, in 1815. He died at Lancaster, Ohio, in 1822....

They had one known son, George (1811-1893), who married Catherine Smith in about 1830. They had five children. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Pennsylvania, Illinois, Iowa, Texas and Michigan.

Descendants of John McNamara/Mack (ca. 1815-1870), son of John McNamara/ Mack and his wife Bridget, who was born in or near Ennis, County Clare, Ireland. He married Katherine Carmody (ca. 1818-1900), daughter of John Carmody and Bridget Meri. She was also a native of County Clare. The immigrated to Massachusetts in 1849. Both died in West Stockbridge, Massachusetts. They were the parents of four children, who were born between ca. 1848 and 1857.
