Matthew Nanney was born ca. 1807 and is believed to be the younger brother of Edmond and Spencer Nanney. They lived on individual farms in the early 1800s in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky. Matthew married Nancy Williams in 1828. They lived in Kentucky and had nine children. Descendants lived primarily in Kentucky, Tennessee and elsewhere.

John Gilmore was born in Ulster, Ireland, He married Margaret Thompson. Their son, Theomas Gilmore, married Marian Sterling in 1702 in Ulster. They had five children.
