Reuben May was born 23 June 1815 in Floyd County, Kentucky. His parents were Thomas May, Sr. and Dorcas Patton. He married Emmeriah Virginia Honaker, daughter of James Honaker and Louisa Owens, 5 March 1835. They had fifteen children. Reuben fought in the Union Army in the Civil War. He died in 1902 in Wisconsin.
