Van "Maryland Van" Swearingen (1692-1801), son of Thomas Swearingen and Jane Hyde, was born at St. Mary's City, Somerset County, Maryland. He married Elizabeth Walker in 1715. Thomas Lancaster was born in about 1702 and immigrated to America in 1711 or 1712. He settled in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, where he married Phebe Wardell, daughter of John Wardell, in 1725. They had thirteen children, 1726-1748. The family lived at Wrightstown, Pennsylvania, until about 1740 when they moved to Richland Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. He died in 1750. Descendants lived in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio and elsewhere.
