Sarah McDiarmid McDonald (1863-1957) was born in Nova Scotia, Canada to John and Flora McClean McDiarmid. Her parents were Scottish emigrants. Sarah became a school teacher and in 1889 she married a sea captain named John Alexander McDonald (1853-1927). They became the parents of two children. Angus William McDonald was born in about 1833 in Ardnamurchan, Argyll, Scotland. His parents were Angus McDonald and Margaret McInnes. He married Joanna Gillies in 1866. Angus came to Alberta in 1881 and began to ranch. His family joined him in 1886. They acquired several ranches in the vicinity of Cochrane, Alberta. Angus died in 1827. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Alberta.
