Arthur and Patrick McGill, brothers, immigrated to Baltimore about 1770 and served in the Revolutionary War. "At the close of the War, Patrick McGill was about thirty years old, and Arthur probably five years older." They settled in Crawford Co., Pennsylvania and both died in 1832. Includes the biography of Andrew Ryan McGill, tenth governor of Minnesota.

Rev. James Macgill (1701-1779) was born at Perth, near Edinburgh, Scotland. A minister for the Church of England, he immigrated to Maryland in 1728. He married Sarah Hilleary (1713-1791) in 1730 in Prince Georges County, Maryland. They had eleven children, 1733-1755. Descendants lived in Maryland, Washington, D.C., Virginia, and elsewhere. Some descendants spell their surname McGill.

Samuel Auld, Sr. (1755-1835) immigrated from Ireland to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania about 1787. He married twice, and moved to Harrison County and then Jefferson County, Ohio. Descendants lived in most of the United States.

Pierce Noland was born before 1655 in Ireland. He immigrated to Maryland in about 1677 and moved to Stafford County, Virginia in about 1707. He died in 1715. He had four known sons. His son, Stephen, was born about 1675. He married Mary O'Bryan Connell, a widow, in about 1705. They had three known children. Descendants and relatives lived in Maryland, Virginia, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.

He married Maria Catharina Michels, daughter of Johann Conrad Michels, 3 October 1751 in Muelheim Bernkastel, Rheinland, Prussia. They emigrated in 1764 and settled in South Carolina. They moved to Nova Scotia in 1783. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Nova Scotia.
