Description
Jane Gilliland (1822-1865) was born a Vevay, Switzerland County, Indiana, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Gilliland. Her family soon moved to Crawfordsville, Indiana, where she spent most of her girlhood, and then migrated to Iowa. She married William McGrew in 1844 at Wapello, Iowa. They moved to Lancaster Township, Keokuk County, Iowa. She died at age 42, three years after the birth of her youngest child.

John McGrew was born about 1755, possibly in York (later Lancaster) County, Pa. His son, John (ca. 1786-1830) was born near Uniontown, Pennsylvania and married Rachel McCoy. About 1806-1807 they moved to Clinton County, Ohio. Descendants lived in Ohio, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Illinois, California, Washington, and elsewhere.

John Blackburn, Sr., (d. 1752) was probably born in Loughgall, Armagh, Ireland. He married Mary Courtney Winter in 1701. She died in 1712 or 1713, then he married Rachel Morton in 1717. They came to America in 1736 and settled in Adams County, Pennsylvania.
