They immigrated to the United States prior to 1751 and by 1755 settled in Rowan, North Carolina. They were the parents of nine children. David died 2 May 1787 while living in North Carolina. Archelaus Smith was born in about 1734 in Chatham, Massachusetts. He married Elizabeth Nickerson (1735-1828), daughter of William Nickerson and Sarah Covell, in 1752. They had eight children. They settled in Barrington Township, Nova Scotia in 1760. He died in 1821 on Cape Sable Island, Nova Scotia. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Massachusetts and Nova Scotia.
