William Sims and his wife, Martha, immigrated from Scotland to Culpeper County, Virginia as early as 1740. John Sims (1800-1875) was a direct descendant in the fourth generation, born near Knoxville, Tennessee and moving to land near Brookville, Indiana. John married Irene K. Allen in 1823, and settled at Fairfield, Indiana. Descendants and relatives lived in Virginia, Tennessee, Ohio, Indiana, New York and elsewhere.

Isaac David Martin was born 1 February 1838. He married Anne Ruff Bell (1845-1932) and they had twelve children. He died 29 June 1912 in Meriwether County, Georgia. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Georgia and Ohio.

John McMahan, his wife, Margaret Murray, and son James McMahan, immigrated to America ca. 1735, probably from northern Ireland, and settled in Lock Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. John and Margaret had eight more children, born in Pennsylvania. He died in Cumberland County in 1767. Most descendants listed lived in Pennsylvania.

James Coleman (ca. 1732-1796) was born in Goochland County, Virginia, probably the son of Samuel Coleman and Ann Mourning Christian. He owned land in Albemarle and Amherst counties. He married Elizabeth Leake in 1751, daughter of Walter and Judith Maske Leake. Descendants lived in Kentucky (many in Casey County), Missouri, Texas, Indiana, Tennessee, Ohio, Colorado, and elsewhere.

Samuel R. Marcum (1818-1884) and Demiah Kirk (ca. (ca. 1827-1851) were married in 1843 at Louisa, Lawrence Co., Ky. Marion Francis, their first son was born in 1845 in Virginia.
