Family history and genealogical information about the descendants of Joseph Caldwell who was likely born ca. 1725 in Ireland. He immigrated to America and married Mary Poak 26 January 1743 in Philadelphia. They moved to Fairfax Co., Virginia sometime prior to the year 1761 and were the parents of five known children. Descendants lived in Virginia, Missouri, Kentucky, Washington D.C. and elsewhere.

William Hercules Hays (ca.1750-1821), son of Sir William Hays, emigrated from Scotland to northwest Virginia just prior to the Revolutionary War (the land became part of Pennsylvania with the Mason-Dixon survey), and married Mary Slack. Descendants and relatives lived in Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Kentucky, South Carolina and elsewhere.

Alexander McMakin was in Baltimore, Maryland in 1765 and later moved to Loudoun County, Virginia where he died ca. 1817. His son, Benjamine Perrine (1763-1804) and his wife, Mary Carr, moved to Spartanburgh District, South Carolina from Loudoun County in 1783. Descendants lived throughout the southern U.S., Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Oklahoma, California, Illinois, Nebraska, and elsewhere.

Chiefly a record of some of the descendants of Alexander Miller. He was born in Inchinnan Scotland ca. 1759. He married Jean Allan ca. 1780 in Inchinnan, Scotland. She was baptised 30 Nov 1760 at Inchinnan, Scotland, the daughter of David Allan and Margaret Wilson. The family immigrated to America ca. 1784. They were the parents of fifteen children, two died young.
