John Smith (b.ca.1700) married Margaret Gilchrist about 1717, and emigrated from Scotland to Cumberland County, North Carolina, where he died before March 1749. Descendants and relatives lived in North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, Illinois, Oklahoma, California and elsewhere.

Phillip Raiford was living in Isle of Wight County, Virginia, by 1674. He and his wife, Sarah, had at least eight children. He died in 1724. Sampson Stuart McNeill (1776-1851) was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and immigrated to the U.S. ca. 1792. He married Lavina Swain in 1806. She had been born in Virginia in 1792. They migrated to Ohio from Virginia before 1819. Descendants lived in Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, and elsewhere.

Robert Band was born in 1540 in Coventry, England. He married Ales Marshall November 31, 1562. They had eight children. Ten generations later they had three descendants named George Band.
