Phillip Raiford was living in Isle of Wight County, Virginia, by 1674. He and his wife, Sarah, had at least eight children. He died in 1724. Descendants listed, chiefly descendants of his sons, Philip (ca. 1790-1849) and Matthew (ca. 1687-1758), lived in Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and elsewhere.

Sampson Stuart McNeill (1776-1851) was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and immigrated to the U.S. ca. 1792. He married Lavina Swain in 1806. She had been born in Virginia in 1792. They migrated to Ohio from Virginia before 1819. Descendants lived in Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, and elsewhere.

Alfred Brown Asher (1851-1912) was the son of Lewis Asher (b.1813) and Alice Brown (1815-1901) of Owen County, Indiana. He married Savannah Georgia Reynolds (1864-1965) in 1881 at Denver, Gentry County, Missouri. They were the parents of seven children. Early Asher family members migrated from Culpepper County, Virginia, to Jefferson County, Kentucky, and Owen County, Indiana. Descendants live in Texas, Illinois, California and elsewhere.

Laughlan McNeill, son of Angus McNeill and Sarah Munn, was born in about 1785 on Colosay Island, Scotland. He married Cathrine Currie (1796-1841), daughter of Donald Currie and Cath Darroch, in 1814. They had eight children. He immigrated to Canada in 1852. He died in 1854 in Arran Township, Bruce County, Ontario. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Ontario and British Columbia.
