Chiefly parental ancestors, relatives, and family of the author's mother, Madge Edna Landers Mead (1912-1995). She was born in Wheeler County, Texas, the daughter of Thomas Adrian Landers (1886-1968) and Emma Nita Boase (1889-1962). She married Clyde Cecil Mead 4 Jul 1937. They were the parents of two children.
Ancestry is traced back to Christopher Landis (ca. 1710-1771) who died in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.

Joseph Convers (1739-1828), direct descendant in the sixth generation, married Elizabeth Davis in 1762, moved from Merrimack, New Hampshire to Bedford, Massachusetts, and in 1794/1795 to Chesterfield, New Hampshire. Robert Hudson (living in 1694) purchased property in East Hampton, New York, where he raised a family of ten children. In 1797, a descendant Shadrach Hudson left Mendham, New Jersey and settled in Miami Co., Ohio. Another descendant, John Hathaway Hudson moved from Newark, New Jersey to Milford, Michigan in 1839. In 1856, he went further west to Kane, Illinois. Thirteen generations of ancestors and descendants are given.
