Priddy Meeks was born in 1795 in South Carolina, the son of Athe Meeks. His family migrated to Shelby County, Kentucky, when he was about two years old, then to Grayson County, Kentucky, where they lived twelve years. The family then moved to Indiana. Athe Meeks was killed by Indians in 1812. Priddy Meeks married Mary Bartlet in 1815. They had four children. Three years after her death, he married 2) Sarah Mahurin Smith, a widow. Athe Meeks, son of Athe Meeks, Jr. and Anna Vest, was born in 1820 in Rockport, Indiana. He married Emeline Srah Thurman (1841-1863) in 1858. They had one daughter. He married Susannah Powell (1842-1927) in 1864. They had seven children. He died in 1913 in Cowley, Wyoming. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Wyoming, Idaho, Utah and Arizona.

Joseph Priddy Dalton (1854-1903) was born and spent his whole life in Parowan, Utah. He was the son of Edward and Elizabeth Meeks Dalton. His grandfather Meeks had been an early Utah physician and his Dalton family originated in Normandy and had been English gentry for centuries.
