The Fred H. Bosselman (German name: Borstelmann) family in America: Carsten Borstelmann (1845-1923) married in 1872 Mary Koch (1841-1925). Mary immigrated to the U.S. in 1846. Carsten and his family immigrated to the U.S. in 1872. He and Mary were married in Brighton, Michigan and moved to Nebraska in 1873. Thomas Duhurst Merrick (died 1794), of an old Welsh family, came to America soon after the Revolutionary War. He was the first of his line in America, settling in Annapolis, Maryland, where he established a law business and married Margaret Matthews. They had two sons, Joseph Ignatius Merrick (1790-1851) and William Duhurst Merrick (1793-1857), both of whom became prominent lawyers and successful politicians.
