Simon Gross (b. ca. 1711) and his brother, Theobald Gross, arrived at Philadelphia in 1741, with passengers from the Palatine area, Germany, and settled at Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Patrick Morgan was born 1833 in Ireland. He married Margaret Halfin ca. 1864. They immigrated to the United States sometime prior to 1865. They lived in Illinois, moved to Missouri and settled in Iowa. They were the parents of five known children. Patrick died 19 December 1912 and is buried in Brighton, Washington Co., Iowa. Descendants lived primarily in Iowa and elsewhere.
