Johann Caspar Zecher (1791-1858) was born in Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany, the son of Christoph Zecher and Katharina Heibertshausen. He married Christine Fink (1792-ca.1830), daughter of Johannes Fink and Elisabetha Heibertshausen. They had four children. He married Christine's sister Margaretha (1809-1882) by 1833. Lorenzo Frederick Smith came to America in 1777 with the Bavarian Ansbach Regiments to fight with the British in the American Revolution. His regiment surrendered at Yorktown and was held prisoner at Winchester, Virginia until fall, 1783.
