Despite the title, this book considers only the possible ancestry of John Mobberley who came to Anne Arundel County, Maryland, in 1687. He brought his wife Elizabeth Woods and they had 5 sons and 1 daughter. William Mobberley also came to America in 1680 and may have been a brother to John. John is supposed to have descended from Radulfo de Modburlegh who lived in Cheshire, England in the 1100's. There were some connections with the Bigot line....

John Richard Mobley, Sr., son of Jeremiah Mobley and Sarah Cheves, was born 20 Dec 1779 in Wake County, North Carolina. He married Lucretia Simkins, daughter of William Simkins and Winnie Vardell, in 1805. They had ten children. John died about 1857 in Edgefield County, South Carolina.
