During the years 1709-1754, at least nine individuals surnamed Rohrbach/Rohrbaugh etc. emigrated from Switzerland, Germany and the Palatinate to the American Colonies. More than one hundred additional family members emigrated from Austria, Alsace, Bavaria and elsewhere between 1825 and 1900. Descendants live throughout the United States.

James Moore was born at Ballyavelin, County Londonderry, Ireland, in 1767. He married Elizabeth Canning (1778-1843) in 1801. They had twelve children, 1802-1825. The family immigrated to the United States in 1818 and settled at Waterford, Pennsylvania. He died there in 1838. Record lists descendants to 1908 with dates, but includes no locality names.
