Peter Wright was born in Hempstead, New York, in 1840. He married Elizabeth Baker in 1761 at Hempstead. They had eleven children, 1762-1782. The family lived at Newport, Rhode Island; North Kingston, Rhode Island; and Shaftsubry, Bennington County, Vermont. He served with the militia of Bennington County during the Revolutionary War.
