Alexander Muir was born in Scotland, April 26, 1819, and died in Port Dalhousie [now part of St. Catharines], Ontario, Jan. 2, 1910. His parents were John Muir and Agnes Muir (maiden name was Muir) who were married in Drakemire, Scotland, Sept. 18, 1816. Alexander was a ship builder and dry dock owner. He includes some information on his ancestry in this autobiography.

Andrew Scott Muir (1831-1886) was born in Chapelhill, Scotland and came to Pennsylvania in 1865. His son, Andrew George (1852-1924), moved to Rooks County, Kansas in 1878 and married Carrie Etta Titus. Descendants lived in Kansas, Missouri, Idaho, and elsewhere.

Walter Muir Sr. was born in 1809 in West Calder, Midlothian, Scotland to Walter Muir and Agnes Mackay. He married Mary Bell Ross in 1835, and they moved to Crofthead, whitburn, West Lothian, Scotland. They became converts to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1848, and he died in 1860. His widow and children immigrated in 1866 to Mendon, Cache Co., Utah.

Thomas Nisbet (ca. 1760-1840) from Kilmarnock, Scotland married Janet Ewings. They had one son, William (1785-1868). He married Isobella Howitson and they had nine children. Descendants moved to Australia and New Zealand. Elizabeth Nisbet (b. ca. 1889) and her husband Albert Chalmers immigrated to the United States, settling in Alabama. They had two children. Descendants live in many parts of the world, as well as the United States.
