Jonathan Calkins Wright was born November 29, 1808 in Rome, Oneida Co., New York, son of Peter Bice Wright and Elizabeth Shead. He married first Rebecca Wheeler ca. 1838. She was the daughter of David Wheeler. She died May 1850 in Council Bluffs, leaving Jonathan with four children. He married second Mary Jane Neeley in 1852.
