The Nisbet family was first found in Scittish records in the twelfth century. The Nisbet family was an important border family for a number of centuries. The earliest tracable ancestor was Philip Nisbet of that ilk (1444-1523) who married Elen Rutherfuird and received a knighthood in 1489. They were the parents of Adam Nisbet (1469-1530) who married Lucie Rutherfurd. Their descendants live IN Scotland and throughout the world.

Description
William Cassidy (1797-1886) was born in the parish of Inver, County Donegal, Ireland. He married Jane Milligan (1798-1875) in 1818 in Gretna Green, Scotland. They immigrated to Canada in 1819 and settled in New Brunswick near DeForest Lake which became known as Cassidy Lake. They were the parents of twelve children. Descendants live in New Brunswick, Massachusetts and throughout Canada and the United States.
