Griffith Miles (ca.1670-1719), a Quaker, and two brothers, Richard and Samnuel, immigrated in 1681/1682 from Wales to Chester County, Pennsylvania. Griffith married Bridget Edwards in 1692, and in 1697 they became Baptists. Griffith Miles IV (1800-1894) lived and died in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and his heirs were confronted with a forged will which was eventually so declared by a jury. Descendants and relatives lived in Pennsylvania and elsewhere.

John Smith born about 1700 at Knapdale, Argyllshire, Scotland. Died before 17 March 1749 in Cumberland County, N. C. Married about 1717 in Scotland to Margaret Gilchrist, born about 1702-04 and died about 1729-1734 and was buried on the banks of the Cape Fear River in Bladen County, N. C. They were early settlers with the first Scottish group to N. C. Descendants lived in North Carolina, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas and elsewhere.

Samuel Nesmith III (1793-1858) married Mariah Ferdon. He was a descendant of John Nesmith, progenitor of the Nesmiths in Williamsburg, S.C. John was born in Ireland, in 1670. About 1720, he immigrated to Penn. and in 1725, went to S.C. He married Sarah Brockington, who had come from England. Descendants and relatives have scattered throughout the United States.
