Alila May Miller was born 25 May 1881 in Miller Place, Long Island, New York. Her parents were Samuel Hopkins Miller (1853-1937) and Alilah Young Tillotson (1857-1936). She married Nathaniel Tuthill 24 February 1909. They had three children. Traces her Miller ancestry to John Miller, who died in about 1650 in Southampton, New York.

Edward Farmer was born (no date given) in Ancelay, Warwickshire, England, the son of John and Mary Farmer. In 1671 Edward Farmer and his family emigrated from England to Bellerica, Massachusetts; his widowed mother, a brother and a sister also were in the immigrant group. Moses Hanks (ca. 1747-1831), probably the son of Luke Hanks (d. ca. 1756), married Aggatha Doson, ca. 1768. They had twelve children, 1769-1793, all born in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. The family migrated to Lincoln County, Kentucky, ca. 1798, and to Williamson County, Tennessee, in 1806. Descendants listed lived in Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and elsewhere.
