William Henry Notestine was born in Ohio about 1823. He married Mariah Jane Swigert and they had 11 children who lived to adulthood. He fought in the Civil War and later had problems adapting to his life and family. Information on many of his descendants, especially through his son, John Henry Notestine, is given in this volume. Delmar D. Notestine was born in 1921 near Ney, Ohio, son of Charles Milton Notestine (born 1892) and Mayme Alice Reeder (1895-1987). He married Genevieve Buzenski in 1950. His paternal grandparents were Erastus Brookens Notestine (1857-1951) and Mary Ann Spencer (1862-1951). His mother, Mayme, was born near Tolesboro, Kentucky, daughter of Oscar Boone Reeder (born 1873) and Anna Corns (born 1874). .

Erastus Brookins Notestine was born 27 November 1857 in Perry County, Ohio. His parents were Amos Notestine and Melissa Stires. He married Mary Ann Spencer 25 December 1882. They had six children. Erastus died in 1951 in Ney, Ohio. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Germany, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan and Indiana.
