The first Olivers to settle in Robeson County, North Carolina arrived in 1805. It appears that they first arrived in nearby Chowen County in the early 1700s. John Oliver (1784-1879) was born in Moore County, North Carolina and married Ann Grantham (1788-1875) in 1805. They moved to Robeson County and farmed land there.
